By accessing or using Understanding (www.understanding.help), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

Description of Service

Understanding is a free, educational multilingual tech glossary that explains common technology terms in simple, human-friendly language. The service is provided by ByteCity at no cost to users.

The glossary content is intended for educational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, we make no warranty that the information is complete, current, or error-free. Do not rely on this content as professional, legal, or technical advice.

User Accounts

You may register for a free account using your email address and name. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date
  • Keep your account credentials confidential
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

Accounts are for individual use only. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that are used for abusive purposes.

User-Generated Content

Registered users may submit comments on glossary terms. By submitting a comment, you:

  • Confirm that the content is your own and does not infringe on any third-party rights
  • Grant ByteCity a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and moderate the comment in connection with the service
  • Accept that comments may be reviewed and removed by our moderation team

You retain ownership of your comments.

Newsletter

Newsletter subscriptions are opt-in and require email verification. We send updates about new glossary content only. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link included in any newsletter email.

PDF Exports

PDF generation is a convenience feature available to registered users. Exported PDFs are for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not redistribute or republish exported PDFs without prior written permission from ByteCity.

Prohibited Conduct

When using Understanding, you agree not to:

  • Post comments that are abusive, harassing, defamatory, or illegal
  • Spam, advertise, or submit unsolicited commercial content
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content from the site without prior written permission
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service or its underlying infrastructure
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity
  • Use automated tools to create accounts or submit content in bulk

Intellectual Property

All glossary content, design, code, and trademarks on Understanding are owned by or licensed to ByteCity. You may quote short excerpts for educational purposes with attribution. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the full content of any term page without prior written permission.

User-submitted comments remain the intellectual property of their authors.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Understanding is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. ByteCity does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. The glossary content is for general informational and educational purposes only.

Limitation of Liability
