A sílaba (syllable) is a sound or group of sounds pronounced together, in a single push of voice, when saying a word. Words can be made up of one or more syllables. Every sílaba must contain at least one vowel.
Examples
- Ratón ("mouse") has 2 syllables: Ra - tón.
- Sol ("sun") has 1 syllable: Sol.
- Helicóptero ("helicopter") has 5 syllables: He-li-cóp-te-ro.
- Conclusión ("conclusion") has 3 syllables: Con-clu-sión.
- Guapo ("handsome") has 2 syllables: Gua-po.
- Buey ("ox") has 1 syllable: Buey.
- Peine ("comb") has 2 syllables: Pei-ne.
